Poll: Which 2 Fights Within The Next 4 Weeks Are You Anticipating The Most?

The next 4 weeks for fans of both mma and boxing fans will be a welcoming treat. There will be 5 titles on the line, and in either of these title fights, there’s no clear cut favorite. As well, the other fights listed in this poll offer their own interest and intrigue. I’m surely interested to see how the former welterweight/middleweight boxing champion Ricardo Mayorga (36) will fair in his first mma fight, against a very good veteran in Din Thomas.

Kimbo Slice, the youtube street-fighting sensation, makes his second UFC appearance at UFC 113.  I suspect that UFC 113 will draw very high viewer numbers, considering that the main is one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history between undefeated champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida facing off against UFC/Pride veteran Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Their first fight saw Machida when via decision, where many felt that Shogun should have taken the decision.

Alistair Overeem, Dutch

And then there’s the mega boxing fight where Mayweather will put his undefeated record on the line against the “Sugar” Shane Mosley, in perhaps the most dangerous opponent since Mayweather fought Zab Judah (2006).  The animosity runs high for Mayweather in this fight.  And Mosley firmly believes to be slighted by the media and is out to prove he’s the best in this era of welterweight fighters.

And FINALLY, Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem returns to the U.S. to give upstart Brett Rogers a chance at winning the belt.  Rogers impressed even the purist mma fans with his stellar showing against #1 fighter Fedor Emelianenko in his last fight.   The jarring has already begun from Rogers.  However, Overeem is as well rounded as Fedor, and may be an overall better striker.

Only time will tell once we’ll be able to reflect back, and subsequently be able tosee which fight lived up to the hype.
